ACT, SAT, and PSAT
We build relationships and inspire success.
ACT
The ACT was overhauled in Spring 2025. It’s now 2 hours 5 minutes, and is either digital or paper format. After the overhaul, the reading, English, and math sections make up the traditional 1-36 score, with the science test now optional. Preparation often begins during or before junior year.
SAT
The SAT went completely digital in Spring 2024 and is now 2 hours 14 minutes. It includes the same traditional 200-800 score in Reading and Writing combined with the 200-800 score in Math. The digital SAT includes the Desmos graphing calculator, a big win for students. Preparation often begins during or before junior year.
PSAT
Taken by all juniors, the PSAT is now 2 hours and 14 minutes, and is the gateway to National Merit recognition. It’s also a stepping stone to the SAT, and both tests are scored on the same scale. The score report includes a National Merit Qualifying score and a PSAT score. Juniors often begin preparing in the summer before the October test.
